Highlights
Kedarkantha Winter Trek is a perfect adventure in the lap of the Himalayas of Garhwal. The overall return distance is around 24 kilometers from Sankri (210 kms from Dehradun) - a small village located in the Jaunsar region of Uttarkashi district.
The beautiful walk takes you up to the summit of the Kedarkantha Peak which touches the altitude of 3800 meters or 12468 Feet above the sea level. The view from the top offers spectacular panorama of the region all around. The mighty peaks of the Supin Range, namely the Swagarohinis, Bandarpoonch and Black Peak surround the valley. From the top, you can also view the Dhauladhar range of Himachal Praesh, The Rupin valley, Har Ki Dun valley and views that goes down to the dense settlement of Purola.
Falling between the junction of the Mighty Dhauladhar range and the Great Himalayas, this region gets high amount of snow early in the winters starting from December which continues and keeps piling up till the March. After March, the snow begins to recede opening up the lush green meadow beneath with colorful flowers blooming during the Spring and Summers. All of the surrounding peaks and valleys are covered with super fresh white snows, making it one of the best snow trek in the Indian Himalayas. All the surrounding mountains, which otherwise were insignificant now looks extremely elegant and beautiful with their sharp points appearing like a dominating 6000 meter peaks of the Himalayas.
