Follow below guidelines to make your trip worthwhile and memorable:
What should you pack: Travel light as possible, keep your baggage handy enough to walk uphill or downhill, carry adequate warm clothes, towels, bed roll (if travelling by non a/c sleeper class), Mosquito repellent cream, cold cream/moisturizer, personal vanity kit, torch, power bank, medicines if you are under any current treatment. (First Aid kit and general medicines would be carried by us.). For adventure activities you are required to dress up wearing track pants along with T shirts and jackets (as per weather conditions). Do carry one set of college uniform to wear during academic visits.
Road Journeys by your private coach: Always Board your own coach once assigned. As you would be required to hop in and hop off at many places as per schedule make sure you follow the timings as instructed during travel by your teachers or mentors. Don’t endanger your lives by sticking your head or body parts our of windows during travel. Playing music in coaches in banned in many states (esp. Hilly regions and in cities) so please follow the regulations. Keep your cameras handy to capture scenic and happening moments during travel.
At the Hotel: Ask about environmental policies and practices. Talk with staff about working conditions and house rules. Do report the reception of any faults and breakages found while checking in rooms. Cost of any damages done in rooms or in hotel premises during stay has to be borne by occupants before checking out.
Dining Etiquette: Limited packed food is served during travel without any second serving. When it comes to buffet meals in restaurants please do follow that ... Only take what you can eat with zero wastage of food. Remember those who starve for food and sleep hungry.. It's always humble to wait for your turn without crowding your fellow friends while they are serving themselves. Keep your table clean after your meal thus inviting your friends to dine further in the same way you did. Manage with one dining plate, one bowl, one desert plate and a spoon for your major meals.
Dress: Read up on local conventions and dress appropriately. In many states, regions or places modest dress is important.
Behavior: Be respectful of local citizens’ privacy. Ask permission before entering sacred places, homes, or private land.
Taking Photos: Be sensitive to when and where you take photos/video of people. Always ask first.
Conserving Environment: Respect the natural environment. Never touch or harass animals. Always follow designated trails. Do not take away flora and fauna in the forms of cuttings, seeds or roots. It is illegal, especially in the Himalayas. The environment is really delicate in this region and the bio-diversity of the region has to be protected at all costs.
Buying Animal products:Never buy crafts or products made from protected or endangered animals.
Buy local: Seek out and support locally owned businesses. Support local businesses during your tour to ensure maximum community and conservation benefit from your spending.
Google your destination : Learn about your destination before you get there. Read guidebooks, travel articles, histories, and/or novels by local authors and pay particular attention to customs such as greetings, appropriate dress, eating behaviors, etc. Being sensitive to these customs will increase local acceptance of you as a tourist and enrich your trip
Please do not litter: Your rail tracks or roads are not your waste bins. Carry back all non-degradable litter such as empty bottles, tins, plastic bags etc. These must not litter the environment or be buried. They must be disposed in municipal/hotel dustbins only
